Whether it’s your wedding day, a birthday, an engagement shoot, or just a moment when you want to look and feel your absolute best—I’m here to help you get that radiant glow you’re looking for. I’m Karen, a skin therapist at Time Clinic, and I often hear the question, “What should I do to prep my skin before a big event?” So, I wanted to share my favorite tips that I give to my clients to ensure they feel fresh, confident, and absolutely stunning on their special day. Here’s a step-by-step guide to get you feeling your best.
START EARLY – YOUR SKIN WILL THANK YOU
The sooner you start prepping, the more amazing your results will be. I recommend booking a consultation about 4–6 weeks before your big day. This gives us plenty of time to really assess your skin, plan out any professional treatments, and work around your schedule.
But don’t worry if you’re short on time! I’ve seen many clients achieve that gorgeous glow in just 1–2 weeks with the right treatments and home care—sometimes, we just need to be a bit more strategic!
PROFESSIONAL FACIALS = PRO RESULTS
When clients come to me before a special occasion, I often suggest in-clinic treatments like the HydraFacial, Fire & Ice Resurfacing Facial, or HydraGenesis. These treatments aren’t just pampering; they really get to work on your skin to:
– Cleanse away dull skin build-up
– Deeply hydrate using medical-grade products
– Smooth the skin’s texture so your makeup looks flawless
If you have the time, I’d suggest one facial a week for 3–4 weeks leading up to the event. If your date is approaching fast, even one treatment just a few days before can work wonders!
GOOD HABITS AT HOME MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE
You can have a major impact on your skin by making a few small changes at home. Here’s what I tell all my clients:
1. Stay Hydrated – Drink plenty of water—aim for about 2 liters a day—and incorporate a hydrating serum, like hyaluronic acid, into your routine morning and night. Dehydrated skin won’t glow; it’ll just look tired and flat.
2. Don’t Forget the SPF – This is non-negotiable! Even on cloudy days, sunscreen is a must. Sun damage can lead to pigmentation and breakouts just when we want your skin to shine. Find a sunscreen you love and make sure it’s a part of your daily routine.
3. Skip New Skincare Right Before the Event– Now is not the time to experiment with that new trendy serum or acid you came across on TikTok. Your skin thrives on consistency, so stick to our personalised plan to avoid any unwanted breakouts or irritation.
GLOWING SKIN IS THE ULTIMATE ACCESSORY
I always say your skin is an essential part of your outfit. When your skin looks healthy, everything else feels easier—your makeup applies beautifully, your photos turn out stunning, and most importantly, you feel more confident.
