Acne

Most commonly affecting the face, acne can also often be found on the chest, back and neck. Acne is an inflammatory skin condition that presents itself in a number of ways; as blackheads, whiteheads, pimples or spots.

The most common demographic of a sufferer, is young people in their teens or twenties, although due to hormonal changes almost half of women in their forties report outbreaks of acne. Whilst the cause of acne can be hormonal, it is most often due to pores becoming clogged by an excess production of sebum combined with dead skin cells. These blocked pores will present themselves as blackheads, unless infection sets in, when they will appear as a whitehead or pimple. People with this condition will often seek satisfaction by attempting to relieve the appearance of spots through picking, squeezing, or touching the pimples. The relief is short lived, as the excessive touching or picking of the affected area can cause further inflammation and spreading of the condition due to the passing of contaminated debris via the fingers.

Acne Treatment

This condition can be detrimental to a sufferers confidence and self esteem, and if left untreated, the acne may lead to some scarring from the irritation caused through both the condition, and the patient interacting with the infection.
